Video: How to accurately allocate costs
for intelligent decision-making

A Cost Intelligence Seminar Series

Recorded Aug. 16th, 2018.

WE TALKED ABOUT COMMON ACCOUNTING PROBLEMS MANAGERS ARE FACING TODAY

N

Accurate Allocations?

Are our product and service-line costs accurate? Do managers and employees know and effectively manage root cause cost drivers? Do accounting systems lack reporting transparency and visibility of costs?

Growing Overhead?

Do we properly “allocate” our indirect expenses (i.e., overhead) to calculate reasonably accurate costs based on “causal” relationships? Or do we “butter spread” expenses simultaneously over- and under-costing products and service-lines?

Misleading Profitability?

Do we measure non-product channel and customer expenses (e.g., distribution channels, selling, marketing, customer service) to report P&L by each customer? Do we know which customers to retain, grow, win-back and acquire?

Appropriate Pricing?

How do we know how to set our prices without including the ever-growing indirect costs? Do we have the same problem with margins? Are many of our decisions based on intuition or experience rather than on fact-based data?
